After graduating from AUT University in 2014, Tara began her career at a well-regarded clinic on the Coast, where she quickly built a solid reputation. She gained valuable experience working in sideline sports, including rugby, netball, and football, focusing on sports injuries and injury prevention. Tara’s commitment to professional growth led her to complete postgraduate courses in manual therapy techniques, dry needling and exercise prescription, further enhancing her skills as a physiotherapist. Her particular interest in knee and hip injuries, as well as rehabilitation, became a key part of her practice.
In 2018, Tara sought to expand her horizons and gain experience in different environments by moving to Canada. During her time there, she worked in a physiotherapy clinic, primarily on reception and as a therapy assistant. This role gave her insight into the day-to-day operations of a clinic and a deeper understanding of how physiotherapy services are managed from behind the scenes. It also provided Tara with a valuable opportunity to observe physiotherapy practices in Canada, comparing approaches and learning from the strengths and weaknesses of her own skill set.
Upon returning to New Zealand in 2019, Tara spent the winter season in Wanaka, where she worked at the Cardrona Alpine Ski Resort. There, she gained experience in triage physiotherapy, managing acute injuries, particularly those related to skiing and snowboarding. This experience expanded her expertise and exposed her to new areas within her scope of practice.
More recently, Tara has worked closely with elite CrossFit athletes at CrossFit 0435, refining her skills in movement pattern analysis, functional strengthening, and sports rehabilitation. She has developed a strong focus on optimizing athletic performance and injury prevention. Her experience with CrossFit athletes has also sparked a keen interest in fascia and myofascial release, which she incorporates into her treatment approaches to help improve mobility and support recovery.
The combination of these experiences has helped Tara clarify her values and direction within physiotherapy, leading her to open a clinic in Orewa. Her clinic reflects her commitment to providing accurate diagnoses, high-quality treatment, and effective management plans, while continuing to focus on what truly matters to her in her practice—helping individuals of all ages and abilities recover and thrive.
Outside of work, Tara loves to travel and stay active in the outdoors. Whether hiking, exploring new places, or snowboarding, she thrives in nature, often accompanied by her dog, Tonka. A passionate sports enthusiast, Tara enjoys CrossFit and keeping fit, motivating her to help clients live their healthiest lives.
